Losing Hope? Read this!

Reading my social media feeds over the past few days, it is clear to see a lot of people around the UK, and perhaps further afield are feeling very, very dejected right now, with the election result signalling 5 more years of Tory rule. Not just any average-Joe Tory rule, but 5 years of an extremely strict, unashamed, unabashed Islamophobic Tory government who have got the significant majority to put through anything and everything they want to do. And you can bet your bottom dollar they bloody will. And then some.

That feeling you may be going through, that feeling of sheer and utter despondency is what it feels like when the bubble bursts. When the jig is up. The death knell tolling. It signals the final extinguishing of what had kept everyone going, what had kept people striving all along — HOPE. Maybe, just maybe Uncle Jezza could do the impossible, we believed. The more rational (or cynical) amongst us perhaps gave the caveat that oh his manifesto is unrealistic and he’s unelectable — but secretly had their fingers and toes crossed for the right result. This was not Trump vs Clinton — one bad and one slightly less bad — this was a pure good vs evil battle, simple as that. At the end of the day, we all like a happy ending. Most of us like the good guys beating the bad guys — harking back from childhood.
